Ask a Specialist FreeBuying & Choosing
Everything you need to know before you commit to a sauna.
Infrared saunas use radiant heat panels that warm your body directly at 120–150°F. Traditional saunas heat the air to 160–195°F using electric or wood-burning heaters — you can pour water on the rocks for steam. Hybrid saunas combine both modes in one unit. We have a full comparison guide at our blog, or book a free consultation and we’ll walk you through it personally.
Choose based on how you’ll use it most, not maximum capacity. If you’ll primarily use it alone but occasionally with a partner, a 2-person model gives you room to stretch out solo. Most families choose 3-person. The interior dimensions listed in each product spec table are the most useful number — compare those to your available space.
Yes. Daily sauna use is the norm in Finland and is widely practiced among health professionals worldwide. Our infrared models are specifically designed for frequent use with low-EMF carbon heaters (under 3 milligauss). As with any heat therapy, stay hydrated, limit sessions to 20–45 minutes, and consult your physician if you have cardiovascular conditions, are pregnant, or take medications affected by heat.
We’re an online-first retailer, so we don’t have showrooms. However, our free consultation includes detailed photo and video walkthroughs of any model you’re considering, and you’ll speak directly with a sauna specialist who can walk you through sizing, wood options, and installation before you commit. We also offer a 30-day return window for units in original, unused condition (buyer pays return shipping unless the unit is defective).
Installation
Most home saunas require only a standard outlet and a flat surface. Here’s what to expect.
Most infrared saunas under 2-person run on a standard 120V / 20A household outlet — no electrician required. Larger infrared units (3-person+) and all traditional saunas typically require a 240V / 30–50A dedicated circuit. We clearly list the electrical requirements on every product page. If you’re unsure about your home’s electrical capacity, we recommend consulting a licensed electrician before purchase — it’s usually a $50–100 assessment.
Most 1–2 person infrared saunas take 60–90 minutes for two people using the included tools and instructions. 3-person models take 2–3 hours. If you’d prefer professional in-home installation, ask us about local assembly services — we can point you to vetted providers in most metro areas.
Most indoor saunas can sit on any hard, level surface — tile, concrete, hardwood, or laminate. We recommend placing a waterproof mat underneath to protect the floor from occasional moisture. Carpet is generally not recommended due to moisture and airflow concerns. For outdoor saunas, a concrete slab, gravel pad, or deck are all suitable bases.
Indoor infrared saunas are self-contained — they don’t require room ventilation or special construction. Minimum ceiling height is typically 84–90 inches. Traditional saunas that produce steam benefit from a floor drain nearby, but it’s not required. Our installation guide (sent with every order) walks you through exact room requirements for each model.
Health & Safety
Sauna use is safe for most healthy adults. These are the questions we get most often.
EMF (Electromagnetic Fields) is emitted by electrical devices including sauna heaters. Concerns center on prolonged close-range exposure. All saunas we sell use low-EMF carbon fiber heaters rated under 3 milligauss at typical body contact distance — well below thresholds recommended by international safety agencies. Cheap heaters on mass-market saunas can measure 10–50+ mG. We list EMF ratings on every product specification sheet.
Many people with cardiovascular conditions use saunas safely and beneficially, but this is a question for your cardiologist — not us. We’d never advise on medical contraindications. The research on sauna and cardiovascular health is generally positive, but individual circumstances vary. Please consult your physician before purchase if you have any active cardiac diagnosis.
This is a medical question beyond our expertise. Most OBGYNs advise against sauna use during the first trimester due to hyperthermia risk. Many advise moderate infrared sauna use (lower temperatures, shorter sessions) can be safe in later stages, but this decision must be made with your OB. We’d recommend discussing with your physician before purchasing.
